Climate Change and Society Planning Reports

Following a Best Practices Symposium in Climate Education in 2007, the Asheville Graduate Center, with support from Chancellor Ponder, applied for and received a planning grant of $80,000 from the UNC Office of the President to facilitate the development of a Masters degree program in Climate Change and Society (CC&S) at the Asheville Graduate Center. Lenny Bernstein, Nobel Laureate and author of Fourth Assessment Report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) was hired as Project Manager.

Planning and collaboration with sister universities and community scientists and business leaders continue on the Climate Change and Society Masters degree program. Reports included on the Asheville Graduate Center website provide an overview of the planning process, including completed tasks and planning that remains before the CC&S Masters degree program begins.
